As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography,Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows
REVIEW:
I have to say I was more interested in the photos rather than the story but that doesn’t exactly mean the world Riggs created wasn’t appealing to me. I liked the concept that there’s a place that time is on a continuous loop, you can basically relive your favorite day over and over again. It’s quite alluring is it not? Anyway what I didn’t like about this book is the ending since it was such a cliffhanger and I haven’t exactly gotten word that there’s going to be a second book. I imagine it will be hard to make one since you need more pictures to go in accordance with the story. This book is still worth a read though. The pictures scared me a bit and I had a hard time falling asleep after.

SUMMARY:
It’s been three years since the devastating accident … three years since Mia walked out of Adam’s life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard’s rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia’s home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other.
Told from Adam’s point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
REVIEW:
I searched for the epub of this immediately after I finished the first book and I’m sorry that I’m only reviewing this now. Things got busy.
I have to say I like this a lot more than the first book. I don’t usually get to read what happens after a tragedy, most of the books I have read end with the protagonist believing everything will be okay. This book isn’t like that and I like the fact that it was addressed that knowing something and believing something are totally different things. It really got to me and I started crying maybe a little after the middle of the book.
I’m not that much of a fan with reading from Adam’s point of view, like I said before I’m not fond of reading from different points of views but it didn’t really hinder me from enjoying the book. I guess it was nice to read about how Adam was feeling, we forget that it wasn’t just Mia that lost something, it was Adam too.

REVIEW:
WHAT?! Really Jen? Another vampire book? *rolls eyes* Yes another one. I know people are making fun of them and I do occasionally as well but really only with Twilight. I respect those ACTUAL vampires who kill and do not sparkle in the sun. Anyway this series reminded me a bit of the Sookie Stackhouse series but more of teen series that isn’t dying because Lord knows that series is dying. I’ve been reading Morganville Vampires for I think almost a week and yes I’m almost done, I only have book 12 left and I am eagerly awaiting for books 13-15. On to the actual review my friends!
I like the whole setting of the town being super exclusive and in the middle of nowhere. It creeps the hell out of me because I’m a city girl through and through. The plot kind of centers around the idea of how vampires and humans can co-exist. So in every book there are different AWESOME problems which never seem to make me think “well isn’t this stupid?”. For some reason I sense how grave everything is in this town. It’s like living in the apocalypse and I can never really understand why Claire can’t just gather her friends and just run the fuck out but whatever, her funeral. I admit there have been moments where I have gotten that feeling I get whenever I read action packed books wherein I need to stop reading and just walk around the house to blow off some steam. I know, super weird but that is an indicator to me that this book is awesome. Also because somehow I’ve managed to not be sleepy despite reading 11 books in less than a week. This series is a drug.
The characters are centered around four friends, Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael. The first few books were from Claire’s POV but somehow the author decided to take the others POV as well, including Amelie’s who is the town’s resident badass vampire in charge. Honestly I liked it more with just Claire’s POV just because I enjoy reading from just one person’s perspective but it’s nice to know what the others are thinking as well when all these shit keeps happening. I like ALL four of them and that is super rare. I love reading about their banter (see favorites quotes above) and made me think they’re probably people I can hang out with.
You know how in YA books there always this heroine where she does dumbass things because she’s so super in love or super naive? I hate those girls and I always wondered what the fuck is wrong with them. Yeah I get that they’re in love or they are righteous or whatever. Self preservation has always been at the top of my list so maybe that’s why I never really understood their actions but this is probably the first series that explains why they do what they do. I liked that and I kind of understand it now, the whole ‘I LOVE YOU AND I’D DO ANYTHING FOR YOU’ thing going on in most supernatural YA books but I still don’t agree with it.
I know the cover is weird and I have friends who I know silently judge me when they see me reading these kinds of books but whatever. The story is awesome and the boys are ridiculously hot. What more do I need? Check it out.

SUMMARY:
Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera isn’t dead.
Not this time.
But she is being held against her will in the dim, twilit world between heaven and hell, where the spirits of the deceased wait before embarking upon their final journey.
Her captor, John Hayden, claims it’s for her own safety. Because not all the departed are dear. Some are so unhappy with where they ended up after leaving the Underworld, they’ve come back as Furies, intent on vengeance…on the one who sent them there and on the one whom he loves.
But while Pierce might be safe from the Furies in the Underworld, far worse dangers could be lurking for her there…and they might have more to do with its ruler than with his enemies.
And unless Pierce is careful, this time there’ll be no escape.
REVIEW:
Uhm. I’m generally okay with this series but I don’t totally love it. Like there’s something about it that kind of keeps me from loving it. Maybe the writing style? Maybe how foolish Pierce is? I don’t know. But what I like about this book is generally the Greek Mythology of it and I get to imagine what the Underworld would actually look like and how everything in it works. Also how hot is John right? DAYM. Cabot writes the best boys I swear.

QUOTE:“If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it’d be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I’d do it. I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay.”
SUMMARY:
In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck…
A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands
REVIEW:
OH GOD. Let me just breath for a second. Okay so I’ve been putting off reading this book mainly because when I picked it up long ago, I saw the word TWILIGHT written on it and bolted. My sister bought it a couple of months after and I decided to read it with her recommendation. There’s just so many things I loved about this book. I’ll try to enumerate them without spoiling anything.
I like Mia’s character a lot, like A LOT. Though I don’t exactly share personality traits with her, I can imagine getting a long with her. I like being around passionate people and she is definitely passionate about music, her family and Adam. This book centers around Mia’s life and her decision of she should stay in the world or just go along with her departed family. Honestly I’ve been going back and forth with this trying to think of what I would do if I were her and I’ve come to the conclusion that I would stay. Death would be easy and I’ve never really been the type to take the easy way out. Also my parents would be mad as hell and I imagine Mia’s mom going all THE HULK on her if she decided not to stay.
This book made me feel really emotional especially with Gramps and Kim’s speeches but Adam got me crying and I couldn’t sleep because of it. I didn’t really see how much Adam loved her until he said his speech and I immediately thought that she should stay for him.
I liked how it wasn’t just centered on Adam and Mia’s relationship but also with each member of her family and Kim. I liked reading about Adam and Mia’s relationship because they were so alike yet so different at the same time. I also liked reading about the moments with Teddy she had.
Anyway this is a great book and I’m regretting my early harsh judgement towards it. Prepare to cry, that is if you have a soul.

SUMMARY:
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war— and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
REVIEW:
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book so VERY VERY VERY MUCH. I’m always apprehensive when it comes to dystopian books mainly because I’ve read Divergent and The Hunger Games and I feel like nothing can top those. Guess I was wrong.
I’d probably describe this as somewhat dystopian X-men and I’ve always loved the X-men. I always believed they were the coolest bunch.
So the main character is Juliette and I just love how this was written especially with the first part wherein she seemed to be on the verge of insanity being locked up for years. I admired her not succumbing to Warner’s seduction of power and all that crap coz honestly I would have give in the moment I got a proper shower. Anyway Juliette’s guy is Adam and what a goddamn sexy name that is. Adam has this whole badass good guy vibe going on. He reminded me of a more gentle Four from Divergent. God I don’t really know what to say without giving anything away. This series has a lot of twists and turns and stuff I never saw coming. It’s a real page turner and you’ll fall in love with Juliette for sure.

REVIEW:
Oh god where the hell do I begin with this one? Uhm okay so I thought this would be some normal supernatural book or something but then it freaking turned sci-fi/apocalyptic and it freaked me out a bit since I don’t like sci-fi but I read on. Yes obviously I didn’t read the summary of this. Anyway this was a fast paced read for me I could not put it down even as I was waiting for my job interview to begin, I was still reading it.
Let’s talk about the plot first, for someone who is so against sci-fi stuff because it confuses the shit out of me, the terms were light here and I actually understood the science of how the alternate universes work. I liked the idea of somewhere there’s another earth exactly like ours. It makes me think that if I screw up anything here, maybe there is another me out there that didn’t fuck up.
On to the characters, I liked Janelle a lot and her family along with Struz even though life seems hard especially with her mother she seems to pull through and get her shit together in times of utter panic and chaos. I would have just lost it if I were her. I didn’t really care much for Ben because I honestly think it’s his and his friends fault all this shit happened to Janelle’s life. For someone who claims to really love her he’s doing a pretty shitty job of showing it. Okay maybe that wasn’t fair but still I need someone to blame for all my feelings and Ben is my fall guy. I especially lost it with what happened to Alex and there started my hate for Ben and his stupid idiot friends. I’m just really angry and annoyed at the ending because it did not give me closure at all but then I realized that’s what I liked about this book because it didn’t end all happy and fine. Life isn’t like that isn’t it.

REVIEW:
God, you guys know my feelings for this series. I’m always torn between finishing it to find out what happened and not wanting it to end. I’m weak so I finished it in less that a day. I wasn’t able to wait for the actual book which my sister ordered yesterday from Book Depository, I read it in my kindle instead. Just for you guys who don’t know, I ADORE THIS FREAKING SERIES and I dread and anticipate the day they make this into a movie. Also now I’m torn between Jay and Rafe. I am sadly one of those girls who are drawn to fucked up guys/bad boy types/guys who will obviously be the death of me so I’m swayed just a bit with Rafe but goddamnit Jay Heaton I cannot forget about you. Okay enough. JUST READ IT PLEASEEEEE.
AND OMFG THE ENDING *DIES*

REVIEW:
I was really excited about this book due to the high rating on goodreads but I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I thought I would. There’s nothing wrong about this book, it was utterly romantic and kept me on my toes for most of the time but I felt like for some reason I was too young for this book. I know it sounds silly but I just feel like I’m in my young adult books mood and I’m not quite ready to read books that depict problems I’m probably going to be soon having. It does sound silly doesn’t it? I’m already 22 years old this year. But it’s the same reason I can’t seem to enjoy Sophie Kinsella books, it’s because I’m still stuck in the young adult world. I want to read about teenagers and all the love problems they have and stuff. I’m not ready for who’s cheating on who or whatever. So honestly there’s nothing wrong with this book, it’s awesome just not for me. Also the hot drivers didn’t really appeal to me. Sorry Will and Luis.

REVIEW:
I was initially not very keen in reading this book because how crazy is that? Dying of a broken heart? I mean really how cheesy can you get? But I was really surprised that this book got a rise out of me. I never really imagined what death would be like and maybe it’s me taking for granted the life I have but there’s so much to do that I never really thought of it as an option. Most of us plan our lives and it’s not like we place in our planner DIE HERE on a particular date. Anyway I’ve been noticing that I connect most to character who are angry. So Brie died from a broken heart and went back to earth to look for her family and friends and then she discovers all the shit that the people she loves have been doing and then goes about doing revenge. And then there’s Patrick trying to warn her of the effects of her actions. And really I’d be angry to if I was dead then finding out the people I love were just screwing with me. I’d be angry and just do anything I want because really what else could happen to me? I was already dead and had nothing left to lose and maybe that’s how Brie felt. Also she was scared I think, like any of us would be of being forgotten because the world moves on with or without you.
I didn’t really focus much on Brie and Patrick’s relationship even though it did seem to be a big thing in the story, I was really more concentrated on what happens when we’re dead thing but Patrick does sound very yummy. LOL.

Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.
Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.
It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for
REVIEW:
I always love the tale of Robin Hood so I basically freaked out when I found this book. It was awesome, of course. I liked reading about their world and the pacing of the story was really good. It was fun reading about a badass girl especially since during these times, girls weren’t really aggressive, they don’t really do anything much. It’s a bit hard to get used to reading since the author stayed true to the era and made it into how they spoke during this time.
Scarlet is a perfect example of a character that annoys me but I love at the same time. She’s extremely stubborn and misses the point that if she gets into trouble by doing everything by herself, she puts her bandmates at risk as well. But I understand the feeling of wanting to do everything by myself so I connected with her with that. It was also really nice reading about her moments with John and Robin.

With his alternately charming and infuriating demeanour and his belief that music can see you through anything, he might be exactly what she needs.
Except June wasn’t the only one hiding something. Jake’s keeping a secret that has the power to turn Harper’s life upside down again
REVIEW:
This is probably a cross between The Sky if Everywhere and Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour. I wasn’t expecting much from this book because the story line seemed like something I’ve already read but I really liked this book. The thing that I liked most about this book was probably my discovery of the kind of music I like. It has a list of songs at the end which I all downloaded and I enjoy the playlists a lot. I learned a lot about music here. I always wondered why I never liked the artists now like Lady Gaga or whatever, turns out I am head over heels in love with The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix so thanks for that Jake. Anyway more on the book, I think it was well written and the only thing that I lacked from the book was the confrontation. I always look for that in a book and I wish Harper talked to her family about all her feelings. I know the feeling of just wanting to explode on someone because you’ve been taking too much crap and you can’t handle it anymore. I just wish she confronted her family especially her stupid Aunt Helen.
Another thing I liked was how it explored the issues of not being yourself. I always like books like these because who can’t relate to it right? It’s scary being completely yourself to someone and hoping they’d still love you just the same.

RATING: 1 out of 5 stars. I’m giving 1 for the rare vanilla moments.

REVIEW:
Someone needs to explain to me why the hell this book is sold out on bookdepository?! WHY?! WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE?! Okay so I started reading this on the recommendation of my best friend who said it was basically porn and has the hottest sex scenes ever. Yes those are the words you need to say to get my attention. Anyway the first parts were alright and I got swept along with the build up of their relationship then this guy was all like “I’m not the man for you Anna” and then this girl was like “But I can’t stay away from you Christian!” and I was sitting there thinking “TWILIGHT?!” which then I went online and found out that people were calling this a Twilight Fanfiction which turned me off a little bit but I still continued to read it because I trusted my best friend. Things were going awesome then suddenly BOOM comes the weird ass Red Room of Pain. I was like WHAT. And I’m totally not judging people who like those stuff I mean good for you but I am strictly a Vanilla kind of girl. I can’t imagine anyone getting turned on being treated like that, the whole Dominant-Submissive stuff. And I was left wondering “so this is what my best friend likes” and that train of thought ended in just my acceptance of her unusual fetish.

When a young girl in her small town goes missing, the local tragedy overlaps with Sam’s personal one, and the already worn thread of faith holding her together begins to unravel.
REVIEW:
I’ve always loved Sara Zarr and I have read all her books. Sad to say I wasn’t fond of this one. I think that maybe too much was going on in 224 pages. Maybe if it was expanded more it would make more sense to me. It didn’t make sense to me at first what the disappearance of Jody had to do with Sam but I got it eventually. I didn’t care much for the ending either, I thought it was a bit anti-climactic but really that’s just my opinion. I didn’t connect much with Sam either but that’s not a surprise I mean I can’t connect with every character I read. I hated her dad and I thought it was weird that they were able to go back to being a family after all that shit. No way that would happen to me. What I liked most about this book was Sam questioning her belief in God. I come from a very Catholic family and I’m kind of the black sheep when it comes to the whole worshipping God thing so I really enjoyed reading about her struggle with that.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can’t help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she’s never alone … because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
But now she’s moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.
Only she can’t. Because even here, he finds her. That’s how desperately he wants her back. She knows he’s no guardian angel, and his dark world isn’t exactly heaven, yet she can’t stay away … especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.
But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld
REVIEW:
Meg Cabot is one of my favorites. I go to her books whenever I need a bit of romancing but sometimes I have a love/hate relationship with her. Some books of her I hate with a burning fury and some books of her I can just read again and again just like the Princess Diaries series and Heather Wells series. This book though I’m not so sure. I was drawn to this book because of the use of Greek Mythology. I always said before when I was reading the Percy Jackson series that I’d most likely want to be a child of Hades and then this book comes along that explores the Underworld. I didn’t hate this book nor did I particularly like it. I feel like it had too many loose ends and yes I know there is a second book and I hope stuff gets cleared out then but I don’t think it was nicely written like her other books. I am looking forward to the second book though.
